Director of Operations
My name is Tom Brokaw, and I am the Queen of Apostles Parish’s new Director of Operations. This article will give me an opportunity to provide you with a brief introduction about myself, my new role, and other staff that will be working with me in the Operations section.
My wife of 34 years, Michelle, and I moved to Madison in 1990. We have two daughters, Alyssa (31), and Rebecca (28). I had previously worked for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer for over 30 years. The majority of my time there was working in a supervisory role, initially for about 5 years overseeing the Department’s construction bid letting process, and then for about 25 years supervising the Department’s materials testing laboratory. About 3 years ago, after a brief retirement, I accepted a position of Director of Operations at St. Peter Church, where I had spent many years volunteering. I am currently entering my 20th year there as a Faith Formation teacher, and have been a chaperone on numerous mission trips, trips to NCYC, along with providing support to St. Peter’s technology needs, and assisting with repair projects as needed.
My role as Director of Operations for Queen of Apostles Parish will be an expansion of the position that I held at St. Peter’s to with a few additions to my responsibilities. The Operations area includes building and grounds, finance, administrative services, communications, and technology. I am extremely fortunate to have dedicated and knowledgeable staff to work with in these areas.
