How does one write about oneself? Do I give the basic facts? Do I give the Miss America answer “I want to work for world peace” or do I answer all the things that I have achieved in life? Do I answer what I love or who it is I love? As I look back on my life, my accomplishments, the wrongs that I did, the right that I did, what defines me? In some score board of life what do I count as wins and what do I count as losses?
I started at Saint Paul’s University Catholic Center and did the bulletin for seventeen years as well as sacristan for twenty years. Currently I am their Safe Environment Coordinator. It was there that I heard and read the first letter to the Corinthians 15:10 that Saint Paul says “by the grace of God I am what I am.” I realized that God created me and I am the sum total of all that has happened to me, all that I have done, right or wrong and yet He loves me. I now rejoice that God loves me just as I am, what I have become, and that I can continue to share his love with everyone I meet.
God has given me gifts, and I try to use those gifts for the benefit of others particularly those I love and those I meet every day. Who am I? I am who God wants me to be, and He wants me to help each person to know that God loves them. Not world peace, but the peace that God gives to each of us. Peace and love that we can share with others so they can find joy in that peace.
I have had the great honor of doing our parish bulletin for twelve years as well as the administrative needs of Faith Formation. In the past I have assisted in parish finances, paperwork for various committees, data entry, new members, golf scramble, mailings, college outreach and anything needed to be done. God willing, I will continue to be able to share my gifts in joy and peace with each of you.
